Le Rêve Artist Feature | Mikaila

Artist Spotlight: Meet Mikaila

Q: What do you enjoy most about working with Le Rêve?
I love getting to work with other artists in the industry! I love being able to bounce ideas off of one another. Being in such a saturated creative field, it’s refreshing to connect face to face with fellow artists to discuss trends and the ever-changing beauty industry.

Q: How did you get started doing makeup/hair services?
I started doing makeup for friends, family, and small weddings around 2008. In 2012, I moved to NYC and worked in film & TV for a few years. By 2017, I transitioned into fashion and e-commerce, which I still do today. On weekends, I continue to do weddings — something I’ve been passionate about since the beginning.

Q: How would you describe your style or approach when working with clients?
My style is very skin-driven. I tailor skincare to each person, because a good base is essential for long-wearing makeup. Coming from a fashion background, I’m more light-handed — I prefer soft transitions, no sharp lines, diffused shadows and seamless blending. My approach is thorough but gentle. I keep communication open, let clients talk through their likes and dislikes, and build the look gradually. I want them to feel like the best version of themselves.

Q: What’s your favorite part of your job?
I love talking about products and routines! You learn so much just by chatting with clients and coworkers. I’m a skincare and product nerd — I love to educate, share, and never stop learning.

Q: What’s one product or tool you can’t live without?
My brushes! I’m very particular about my brush choices. Hakuhodo is my favorite — they’re an investment, but they last forever. Also, skincare. I do my research and keep effective, versatile products in my kit at all times.

Q: What are your current trend predictions?
Blurred lips, skin tints, juicy berry tones for summer, soft everything — I think we’re moving away from baking and into fresher, lighter looks. And yes… I love a bleached brow!

Q: How do you spend your free time?
I do everything a retired person would do — hiking, gardening, reading, cooking, going to concerts. I love exploring small towns, hitting thrift shops and antique malls.

Q: Share your current obsessions!
I’m currently obsessed with Riley Sager’s thrillers. Music-wise, Sturgill Simpson and Billy Strings being on tour has me excited for summer concerts!

Q: Anything else you’d like clients to know?
I’m super receptive. I’m here to help bring your vision to life and make sure you feel 100% comfortable in my chair. I truly love what I do!
